City breaks ground on community Xeriscape Demonstration Garden

Surprise, AZ (October 25, 2021) The City of Surprise has broken ground on a Xeriscape Demonstration Garden on the Surprise City Hall campus, just west of West Valley Arts HQ, thanks to funding support from Arizona Department of Water Resources, Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and United States Forest Service.

The garden will be a multifunctional space showcasing the beauty of arid landscapes, while promoting responsible and sustainable use of water. It will provide the opportunity for our Water Resource Management Department to demonstrate appropriate landscape maintenance and watering practices to residents, HOAs, commercial water users and other groups through both tours and self-guided materials.

It will also function as a beautiful space to host events with a built-in amphitheater!

During construction, the entrance to West Valley Arts HQ off Paradise Lane will be blocked off. Civic Center Plaza is available as an alternate entrance.

The project is estimated to be complete at the end of January 2022.
