Swim Dive Teams

Recreational Swim & Dive Teams
Surprise offers two recreational swim teams that compete in the West Valley Swim League which consists of teams from the City of Surprise and the City of Peoria. Practices Start: Tuesday, May 28.  Practices are Monday-Thursday with meets and special events on Friday and Saturdays.

Swordfish – Morning Practices | Tsunami – Evening Practices
Swim team registration available for an 8 & under practice (30 minutes) or a 9 & older practice (60 minutes). Practices will be divided by age and skill, and swim meets will be separated by age groups (6 & under, 7 - 8, 9 - 10, 11 - 12, 13 - 14, 15 - 18) and gender.  Age is determined by June 1, 2019.

Swordfish & Tsunami Beginning Dive
This class is for participants new to diving or may have 1 year of experience but cannot perform a back dive for competition.

Swordfish & Tsunami Intermediate Dive
This class is for participants who may have 1 - 2 years’ experience and can perform 1 back dive for competition.

Swordfish & Tsunami Advanced Dive
This class is for participants who may have 2+ years’ experience, a full diving schedule, and/or high school diving experience.

Returning Swimmers
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on April 29 at the CRS Office. Registration must be in person to verify past participation.

New Swimmers & Divers
Try-outs are REQUIRED and are available Monday - Thursday starting May 6 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Surprise Aquatic Center. A special Saturday tryout will be held May 4 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards’ freestyle & backstroke continuously & demonstrate all four competitive strokes. Divers must be comfortable enough to swim across the pool & be comfortable going off the diving board.

Junior Coaches Program

The City of Surprise Swim and Dive Teams often invite 6 - 8 former or current swim team members between 14 - 17 who would like to volunteer their time and talent to help support the teams as a Junior Coach. The primary duties would include supporting the Swim Coaches during team practices and swim meets, offering young swimmers tips to improve their skills, and allow coaches to conduct practices in a safe manner.

USA Club Swimming - Surprise Storm

Surprise offers a year round competitive swimming program that competes within the valley, state and beyond. The program focuses on learning technical skills required for athletes to train and improve speed & endurance while competing at a higher level. Participants must try out for this program. Training fees are billed monthly and each athlete is required to pay an annual registration fee which includes a membership to USA Swimming.
