2022 Elections

The City of Surprise, Arizona will hold elections as follows: 

Primary election: Tuesday, August 2, 2022
General election: Tuesday, November 8, 2022 (if applicable) 

Offices to be filled: Three (3) council seats with 4-year terms ending in December 2026 – District 1 (Acacia), District 5 (Palm) and District 6 (Palo Verde). 

Candidate packets & filing deadline: 

Candidate packets with petitions are available now at the Surprise City Clerk’s Office. Candidates are required to fill out and sign a statement of interest before petitions can be circulated.   

The nomination paper, financial disclosure statements, affidavit of qualifications and petitions are due no earlier than Monday, March 7, 2022 and no later than Monday, April 4, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. 

Candidate packets need to be filed at the City Clerk’s office, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza, Surprise, Arizona 85374.

Important Primary Election Dates

  • July 5: Voter Registration Deadline
  • July 6: Ballots Mailed & Drop Boxes Available
  • July 22: Last Day to Request a Ballot in the Mail
  • July 26: Last Day to Mail Back Your Ballot
  • August 2: Primary Election Day
