Stormwater Utility

On May 17, 2016, Council approved the establishment of a Stormwater Utility, a fund dedicated to the complete and proper management of the city’s stormwater system. Beginning November 1, 2016, residential customers will see a $2 Stormwater Utility line item on their monthly water/wastewater bills.
  
Commercial customers in Surprise will also see the new fee on their November utility bill that was calculated based on the amount of impervious surface area on their site. Non-residential customers are encouraged to apply for the Stormwater Utility Non-residential Credit Program which may reduce the base fee.

Stormwater Utility Non-residential Credit Program

 
 
Commercial customers who participate in stormwater management services that support and complement the city’s stormwater management program may be eligible for a reduction to the Stormwater Utility base fee.

To be considered for the program, interested commercial customers must submit a complete Stormwater Credit Application to the Surprise City Hall lobby, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza, by 5 p.m., May 1, 2017.
