Veterans, Disability and Human Services Commission
About the Commission
In December 2018 the City Council voted to disband the Disability and Advisory Commission and expand it into a new commission, the Veterans, Disability and Human Services Commission. The expanded commission is charged with assisting in the development and/or expansion of city programming related to veterans; people with special needs; and those in need of general human services and workforce development.
The 11-member commission must be comprised of volunteer members representing veterans, their family members or someone representing a veteran service organization, members representing those with disabilities and/or programs that support our special needs communities and those representing the social/human services sectors.
The new commission assembled for the first time in February 2019.
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month in the City Hall Council Chambers at 6 p.m. All meetings, are open to the public, and will be televised on Surprise TV and online at www.surpriseaz.gov/surprisetv.
