This free youth competition is a way for youth, ages 10-14, to showcase their hitting abilities for a chance to compete at the National Finals during MLB All-Star Week.
Girls and boys are divided into 2 age divisions, 12u and 14u, and will have the opportunity to advance through 3 levels of competition. The local champs from both age divisions will advance to regionals, and regional champs will advance to the National Finals, which will take place during 2018 MLB All-Star Week.
The Surprise derby will take place Saturday, April 21 at the Kansas City Royals Major League Practice Fields, 15850 N Bullard Ave. Check-in will begin at 12 p.m., and the derby will begin at 1 p.m.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. This competition is designed for ages 10-14. Your child’s age as of July 17, 2018 will determine his or her age in this year’s competition.
Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. Youth can compete, free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills.
Boys and girls are divided into 4 age divisions 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through 4 levels of competition, including the National Finals during the MLB All-Star Week.
The individual Pitch, Hit & Run Champions, along with the All- Around Champion in each age group at the local level, will advance to Sectionals.
The Surprise Pitch, Hit & Run Competition is April 21 at the Kansas City Royals Major League Practice Fields, 15850 N Bullard Ave. Check-in begins at 12 pm. The competition begins at 1 pm.
