Where does the city get its water?

Surprise receives drinking, agricultural, and landscape water from three sources: groundwater, reclaimed water, and Colorado River water (surface water from the Central Arizona Project). Currently, Surprise relies solely on groundwater for drinking water purposes. Reclaimed water is used primarily for agricultural and landscape irrigation; some surface water from the Colorado River is also used for irrigation purposes.
