Surprise rebate programs offer incentives for water-conscious customers

Water Conservation Rebates web-01

Surprise water customers who want to help with water conservation efforts have additional incentives to save.

Beginning July 1, city-serviced residential and business water customers will have three water conservation rebate options.

WaterSense®-labeled irrigation controller rebate

Water customers who purchase and install a WaterSense-labeled irrigation controller may be eligible for the cost of the controller, up to $125, excluding installation/labor, parts, shipping, tax, etc. Single-family residential, homeowner association, school, church, multifamily and commercial properties may be eligible.

Additional guidelines apply; view the rebate program requirements. Access the application at surpriseaz.gov/waterconservation.

Single-family new home Xeriscape landscape installation

Receive a $200 rebate for installing low-water use landscape on your property! Eligible properties must be new, single-family residential homes built in 2019, 2020, or 2021. Total front and backyard landscaped area must exceed 1,000 ft2; and all plants in the landscape design must be from the Arizona Department of Water Resources plant list

Submit rebate applications by April 18, 2022; Xeriscape landscape installation must occur before May 2, 2022.

A complete list of program eligibility requirements can be found here. To participate in the program, apply at surpriseaz.gov/waterconservation.

HOA, commercial, church and multifamily turf removal rebate

Eligible HOA, church, multifamily and commercial water customers may qualify for a rebate to receive $0.50 per square foot of removed turf, up to $3,000. To apply, participants must contact the city’s Water Resource Management office and receive pre-eligibility approval prior to beginning project (removal) or completing the application.

The application deadline is March 31, 2022; applicants must complete projects and notify the city’s Water Resource Management office by May 2, 2022 to receive the rebate. View program requirements.

The city processes all water rebate applications on a first-received, first-served basis until application deadline or fund depletion, whichever occurs first.

Water customers serviced by organizations other than the city of Surprise (EPCOR Water, city of El Mirage, Beardsley Water, etc.) are ineligible for Surprise’s water rebates. Find your water at surpriseaz.gov/mysurpriseaddress
