Changes for the 2021 Season

      COVID-19 Mitigation Measures

  • Face Coverings will be mandatory for entry and must be worn at all times unless actively eating and drinking in your dedicated seating pod.
  • Physical distancing will be required at all times, particularly in queueing areas (entrance, concessions, restrooms and retail shops) which will be clearly marked and monitored by stadium staff. There will also be a six-foot physical distance separation in the stadium seats between parties in ticketed seating pods.
  • Surprise Stadium has transitioned to digital ticketing and offers numerous hands-free, cashless payment experiences via the MLB Ballpark app.
  • Surprise Stadium will implement a pre-cleaning and sanitization of all of the seats prior to the season starting. Surprise has partnered with the WakWay Foundation who will utilize a drone filled with bio-friendly cleaning solution to clean and sanitize all of the seats and high traffic outdoor areas prior to fan arrival.  The microSure™ antimicrobial solution lasts for over 30 days and uses a technology that forms a covalent bond on the surface it is applied to, enabling a persistent and long-term protection.
  • Seats will also be cleaned and disinfected daily.
  • Hand-sanitizer stations will be available throughout the concourses.
  • Mobile ordering will be available from select concessions stands for no waiting pick-up.
  • A No Bag Policy will be in place with the limited exception of medical bags and manufactured diaper bags for fans accompanying young children, as well as a personal clutch (5 in. x 8 in.) that may be visually inspected.

Additional fan safety information and policies can be found at surprisestadium.com.

Major League Baseball Spring Training COVID-19 Practice & Game Changes

  • Team Practice Fields: to ensure the safety of all fans and players, the practice fields will be closed to the public this season.

-  Ending Innings Unilaterally - Games that occur from February 28 through March 13, (“Retiring the Side”) shall be relaxed, such that defensive managers may end an inning prior to three outs following any completed plate appearance, provided the pitcher has thrown at least 20 pitches.

-  Spring Training Games that occur from February 28 through March 13 may be shortened to seven-inning games or five-inning games upon mutual agreement of both managers.
