Become a storm spotter; free webinar Nov. 10

storm spotter

If you are interested in learning how to properly identify and report significant weather phenomena, you won’t want to miss a free training webinar on Tuesday, November 10th.

The class, presented by the National Weather Service (NWS), will prepare volunteer storm spotters to identify the development stages of severe thunderstorms, as well as downbursts, desert flash flooding and tornadoes. The NWS uses the information in severe weather warnings and statements, which ultimately saves lives and protects property.

Anyone can be a spotter and we encourage those who like to pay attention to the weather to become involved. Volunteers should be community-minded adults, who understand they play an essential role in providing storm information to the NWS.

The webinar is November 10th from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

To register, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/WgPahbWthcjdFjfi7.

If you’d like more information, go to weather.gov/psr/skywarn, email austin.jamison@noaa.gov, or call the NWS Phoenix Forecast Office at 602.275.7418.
