The voter-approved Litchfield Road improvement project, which widened the stretch of road from Waddell Road to Peoria Avenue will be complete Wednesday, August 19.
The new traffic signal at Litchfield Road and Sweetwater Avenue will be activated on Monday, August 17 in flashing red mode, functioning as a four-way stop sign for 48 hours. It will operate normally beginning Wednesday.
This project delivers the full design and construction of Litchfield Road, as this was the only remaining undeveloped section of the roadway.
The project added two additional travel lanes (for a total of four), sidewalks, a bicycle lane, street lighting and landscaping.
Residents can still expect temporary and minor traffic control over the next couple of weeks as the city works to complete finishing touches along the roadway.
The Litchfield Road Improvement Project was voter-approved through the 2017 General Obligation (G.O.) Bond which funded 10 Capital Improvement Projects.
