Surprise has joined Governor Ducey’s Light AZ Blue initiative to show support for Arizona’s frontline medical workers and emergency responders battling COVID-19.

As part of the statewide initiative, buildings like the Arizona Capitol, executive tower, Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and city buildings across the state, including Surprise City Hall, have been lit blue.

“The city is incredibly thankful for the efforts of health care workers and first responders who are rising to the challenge of COVID-19,” said Mayor Skip Hall. “They are true heroes, and we want them to know that Surprise is extremely grateful for their commitment to keeping our community healthy.”

Residents can show their support by shining blue porch lights and posting pictures to social media along with the hashtags #LightAZBlue #SurpriseAZ.
