The Surprise City Council selected District 6 Councilmember Chris Judd to serve as Vice Mayor at their regular meeting Tuesday night.
Per city code, City Council must select a new Vice Mayor to serve on an annual basis no later than January 30. The Vice Mayor acts on behalf of the Mayor in the event of absence.
Judd was elected as the District 6 (D6) Councilmember in the August 2018 Primary Election to serve a four-year term beginning January 1, 2019.
Judd is a native Arizonan that has lived in Surprise for more than a decade. He is currently employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance and has been part of the Surprise business community since the mid-’90s. Judd spent 14 years as General Manager of a local small manufacturing plant before opening a Surprise-based trucking company.
Judd is a member of the Executive Board for the White Tank Mountains Conservancy and a member of the Advisory Board for the Northwest Valley YMCA. He has also been very active with the Rotary Club of Surprise and the Surprise Regional Chamber of Commerce. He served as the Rotary Club President in 2015-2016, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Surprise Community Foundation.
Judd holds a professional designation as a Life Underwriter Training Council Fellowship from the College for Financial Planning, as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University.
