Waddell Road will be completely closed between Sarival Ave and the Loop 303 beginning 4 a.m. November 18 to 6 p.m. January 31, 2020, while crews work to improve the roadway.
Turn movements and north/southbound travel at the Sarival Avenue and Waddell Road intersection will be permitted through the end of November.
Drivers using the Loop 303 off-ramp at Waddell Road will continue to be able to travel westbound on the roadway.
The Waddell Road widening project was approved by voters as part of the 2017 Decide Surprise General Obligation Bond Election. The project will: complete the north and south half of Waddell Road from the east limit of SR 303 to Reems Road, creating a total of six travel lanes; add a traffic signal at the Sarival Avenue and Waddell Road intersection; eliminate areas that have multiple lanes merging into one lane in each direction; and include provisions for drainage, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street lighting, landscaping, and turn lanes.
