Surprise seeking sponsors, volunteers for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration & Service

Surprise is seeking event sponsors and community service volunteers for its Fourth Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration & Service on Saturday, January 18, 2020. 

A program celebrating Dr. King’s life will begin at 9 a.m. in the outside courtyard at Surprise City Hall, located at 16000 North Civic Center Plaza. A light breakfast will be served to the first 500 attendees beginning at 8:30 a.m. 

Following the program, at 9:45 a.m., volunteers will be sent into the community to participate in service projects. Projects will take 1-4 hours to complete. 

How to get involved: 

  • Sponsorships: If your business or organization would like to help sponsor the event, there are several opportunities. See sponsorship options. For more information, please contact Seth Dyson at 
  • Individuals/Families: Join us for the breakfast, program and day of service! If you can only attend the service project portion, please arrive by 9:45 a.m. to receive an assignment. 
  • Groups: If you plan on bringing your group/club/congregation and would like to participate in the service projects, please RSVP your group name and estimated number of people to Ervin Cutwright at
