The City of Surprise and Maricopa County Library District are excited to announce that in early 2020 a new library will open and another will offer expanded hours.
Starting in early January 2020, expanded hours are coming to Hollyhock Library, located at 15844 N Hollyhock St. City Council approved funding to double the weekly hours from 18 to 36 at the City Council Meeting on Tuesday, October 1. The increase in hours will provide residents more access to library programs and resources offered by the city in partnership with Maricopa County Library District. The new schedule will be determined by the Parks and Recreation Commission at their next regularly scheduled meeting on October 28, 6 p.m., at Surprise City Hall in the Community Room.
The city is also building a new library in northern Surprise. The grand opening for Asante Library, located at 16763 W Vereda Solana Dr., will be held on Saturday, February 1 at 10:00 a.m. The 10,000 square foot library will provide beautiful views of Asante Community Park and the White Tank Mountains. The library will feature self-check stations; adult, children and teen areas; a multipurpose room for a variety of programming and story time; and public access computers. It will also be the first city library to offer meeting and study rooms - with two small and one large meeting/study room in the plans.
