The City of Surprise Marketing & Communications Department earned a first place win in the National Association of Telecommunications Officers & Advisors’ (NATOA) 34th Annual Government Programming Awards.
Surprise took first place for our population size in the Edited Community Event Coverage category for The Moving Wall Vietnam Memorial video!
The three-minute and 23-second video captures the experience of visitors and the events surrounding The Moving Wall’s visit to Surprise in July 2018. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. that chronologically lists the names of the more than 58,000 service men and women killed during that war.

NATOA’s awards program honors excellence in broadcast, cable, multimedia and electronic programming produced by local government agencies. There were more than 945 entries submitted across the country this year.
