The city of Surprise broke ground today on a new Fire Station 304 at 163rd Avenue and San Ysidro Road, located in the city’s growing northern area. This voter-approved project is being funded by the 2017 Decide Surprise General Obligation Bond and will replace the temporary modular Fire Station 304 currently in operation.
With the city’s northern area experiencing continued growth, the temporary facility has overextended its useful life. This permanent facility will allow the Surprise Fire-Medical Department to meet the growing needs of the community. It will also improve the station’s onsite security and provide better protection for the fire apparatus and equipment that are currently stored under an open-air steel structure.
The new fire station is expected to be complete in fall 2020 with Perlman Architects and Willmeng Construction serving as the project contractors.
