Construction of the voter-approved Waddell Road Improvement Project is underway.
The Waddell Road project will complete the north and south half of Waddell Rd from the east limit of the SR 303 to Reems Road by increasing the number of travel lanes and adding a traffic signal at the Sarival Avenue and Waddell Road intersection.
In addition to more travel lanes, the project includes drainage infrastructure, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street lighting and landscaping.
During the project, drivers can expect intermittent and full closures, lane restrictions and reduced speed limits.
Residents can sign up to receive project updates by subscribing to the city’s Notify Me email list or by following the city @CityofSurprise on Facebook, @AZSurprise on Twitter or by joining NextDoor.
Project updates will also be posted on the city’s Road Closures and Traffic Restrictions webpage.
The road improvement project is scheduled to be complete in summer 2020, weather permitting.
