The city won the Outstanding Marketing Campaign – Rural for its Find Your Surprise marketing campaign, including the website ExploreSurprise.com!
This award, given at Tuesday night’s Arizona Governor's Conference on Tourism (GCOT) in Tucson, recognizes the best marketing program or campaign that attracted domestic or international visitors to Arizona.
In addition to launching a new tourism website to help showcase Surprise as a year-round travel destination, the city placed ads in Surprise Progress Magazine and tourism industry publications (AZ Business).
Additional promotion includes:
- Videos at Spring Training games
- Stadium signs
- Print brochures
- Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
- Baseball program ads
- and more!
The website, ExploreSurprise.com, features the slogan “Find your Surprise,” and highlights the many ways to play, dine, shop and stay in Surprise! It inspires visitors to make the most of their stay by curating city attractions into one, easy-to-navigate website filled with vibrant visual images. It also includes several trip itineraries and a blog with tips for tourists.
While visitors are the website’s target audience, residents can also enjoy an events calendar. The calendar lists city-hosted happenings like Spring Training games and Sunday in the Park Food Truck Festivals. It’s also set up to take event submissions from local businesses and organizations.
The ultimate goal has been to brand Surprise as a tourist destination and create a positive economic impact for the city.
The Find Your Surprise campaign was a collaborative effort by the city’s Marketing and Communications and Sports and Tourism Departments.
The City of Surprise thanks GCOT for the recognition and is proud of the collective efforts that made this campaign possible.
