Surprise, in partnership with the city of El Mirage, will host walk-in Utility Assistance Application Events in Surprise during the months of May and June, to assist eligible households that need support paying gas and electric utility bills.
Utility Assistance Events will be held on Thursday, May 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30, and Thursday, June 6 & 13, at the Surprise Resource Center, 12425 W. Bell Rd. Bldg. A Suite #124. The first come, first serve events will take place from 3 – 7 p.m., or until fund capacity is achieved; interviews do not guarantee assistance.
A special intake event will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 3-7 p.m. at the El Mirage Senior Center, 14010 N. El Mirage Rd.
Southwest Gas and Arizona Public Service (APS) customers who qualify and need assistance are encouraged to attend one of the events.
Households that have received utility assistance from the Community Assistance Program office in the past 12 months are not eligible to apply at this time. View the eligibility and required appointment documents online; a Spanish version is also available.
The Surprise Resource Center, in partnership with many non-profit organizations, also has food boxes, employment services, benefit assistance programs, WIC, domestic violence services, veteran employment services, senior support services, and free tax preparation.
