City Court Compliance Assistance Program helps resolve fines, reinstate driving privileges

TIS_CAP Program web

The Surprise City Court has a new program designed to assist individuals with income-based payment plans to pay court-ordered fines and reinstate their Arizona driving privileges.

The Compliance Assistance Program (CAP) allows individuals with civil traffic and/or municipal code violation monetary sanctions an opportunity to enter into a payment contract so they may stay on track with payments, or get back on track if fines have already been referred to collections.

To get started in the CAP program, interested participants will need to complete the online financial affidavit or call the Surprise City Court, 623.222.4838. Court assigned CAP staff will determine eligibility and conduct a financial review to determine a minimal down payment and payment options.

Once the initial down payment is paid, any defaults entered against the participant will be reversed and previously assessed collection fees will be waived; individuals can then contact the Arizona State Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Services to reinstate driving privileges.

Visit surpriseaz.gov/courtCAP to learn more about the program, including frequently asked questions, or call the Surprise City Court at 623.222.4838.
