The City of Surprise FY2020 budget building process kicks off at the City Council Work Session on Tuesday, February 19.
This will be the first in a series of presentations to Council by the City’s Finance Department regarding the overall development of the budget. This presentation will review the major revenue sources focused mainly on General Fund operations, including sales tax, state-shared revenue and more.
Future Council Work Sessions and Regular Meetings will include presentations related to department operating and capital budget development.
The Recommended Budget is scheduled for release in April, followed by Council and public review that will result in the adoption of a balanced FY2020 budget in June. FY2020 begins July 1, 2019.
Council agendas are posted online at www.surpriseaz.gov/agendas at least two business days before the meeting. City Council meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month. Work Sessions are at 4 p.m. and Regular Meetings begin at 6 p.m.
All meetings are carried live on Surprise TV for cable customers and streamed online at www.surpriseaz.gov/surpriseTV. Additionally, each of the staff budget presentations will be linked at www.surpriseaz.gov/budget the day following the talks.
