The Surprise/El Mirage Community Assistance Program (CAP) has additional funding to immediately assist federal workers, who are also Arizona Public Service (APS) customers, with paying their electric utility bills thanks to support from APS, Wildfire and Maricopa County.
Federal employees who live in the El Mirage and Surprise area should call 623.222.1600 to schedule an appointment; be sure to indicate you are a federal worker when calling for the appointment.
Proof of federal employee status in the form of a federal employee ID or paystub and an APS account is required; participants will be required to complete an APS consent form during the appointment.
The Surprise/El Mirage CAP will also host a walk-in assistance event on Wednesday, February 6 at the Surprise Resource Center, 12425 W. Bell Rd. Bldg. A, Ste. #124, to assist federal workers and others seeking assistance with their electric bills. The first come, first serve event will take place from 3 p.m. – 7 p.m., or until fund capacity is achieved.
Utility assistance remains available for the general public who meet certain eligibility guidelines. Non-federal employees are encouraged to call 623.222.HOPE (4673) on Monday mornings at 8 a.m. for an appointment.
The Surprise Resource Center, in partnership with many non-profit organizations also have food boxes, employment services, benefit assistance programs, WIC, domestic violence services, veteran employment services, senior support services, and free tax preparation.
