The City of Surprise will welcome thousands of pickleball players this winter. Pickleball, the paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong, is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.
The city added eight additional courts in 2017 at the Surprise Community Park, offering 16 pickleball courts and making it one of the premier public pickleball complexes in the state of Arizona.
The following pickleball tournament events will take place at the Surprise Pickleball Courts located at 15931 N. Bullard Avenue:
Super Senior International Pickleball Association – West Pickleball Championships, Dec. 4-6 | www.usapa.org/events
Sanctioned by the USA Pickleball Association, the tournament will draw over 800 players of all skill levels, ages 60 and over.
Tommy Wong Memorial Pickleball Tournament, Jan. 4-7 | www.surprisepickleball.org
SPA and USAPA sanctioned double elimination pickleball tournament featuring women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and senior mixed doubles.
Southwest Regional Pickleball Championships, Jan. 8-13 | www.usapa.org/events
USAPA sanctioned pickleball tournament featuring over 800 players competing amongst women’s doubles, men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and senior mixed doubles; skill groups 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 5.0.

World Team Pickleball brings a whole new aspect to the game with its unique concept of scheduled team play. This event will feature a mixed team event - Men & Women skill levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0; age brackets: 18+, 50+, 60+, 70+.
Grand Canyon State Games – Pickleball, Feb. 21-26 | Grand Canyon State Games
The Arizona Sports & Entertainment Commission will host the USAPA sanctioned Grand Canyon State Games Arizona State Pickleball Championships here in Surprise, Arizona.
The Surprise Pickleball Association, in partnership with the City of Surprise Sports and Tourism Department, Super Senior International Pickleball Association and World Team Pickleball are dedicated to promoting the sport of pickleball in the community.
