The City of Surprise, in partnership with local community sponsors, was recognized October 25 at the 24th Annual APS Arizona Talent in Events Concepts Awards Competition.
Each year, the APS AzTEC Award competition, endorsed by the International Festivals and Events Association, recognizes outstanding examples of festival and event promotion in the state of Arizona.
The City of Surprise competed amongst many other local municipalities and event production affiliates in a variety of categories for events under 20,000 in attendance and is honored to announce the following awards:
Gold in Best New Element – Sunday in the Park Food Truck Festival:
In partnership with State 48 Brewery and Momma’s Organic Market, the City of Surprise continues to innovate and offer engaging community activities. The Sunday in the Park Food Truck Festival offers an array of unique food choices, music and family entertainment.
Silver in Best Food or Beverage Element – Sunday in the Park Food Truck Festival:
State 48 and Momma’s Organic Market provide the Surprise community an opportunity to experience exciting and flavorful selections of food and craft beer in a family-friendly atmosphere.
Gold in Best Kids Element – Jimmy John’s Surprise Stadium Spring Training In-game Interactive Element and Promotion:
Our proud partners at Jimmy John’s took the in-game experience to a whole new level for our Spring Training audience with the Jimmy John’s Freaky Fast Delivery Challenge. This interactive element featured kids of all ages competing in a race to deliver sandwiches to an encouraging audience. When it comes to fan experience and community partnership, Jimmy John’s in Surprise is top notch.
Silver in Best Radio Spot – 2018 College Baseball Classic:
The 2018 College Baseball Classic utilized a collaborative radio marketing campaign between Oregon State Productions and the City of Surprise to produce and actively promote the tournament which yielded the highest attendance in the tournament’s history.
The City of Surprise celebrates the close collaboration between the Surprise Communications Department, Surprise Community and Recreation Services Department, Sports and Tourism Department and community partnerships with State 48 Brewery, Jimmy John’s, Oregon State Productions and Momma’s Organic Market.
