It was a day of celebration in Surprise as city officials handed a local family the keys to their newly-constructed 1,300 square foot home yesterday!
Yolanda and Manuel Diaz, residents of the Surprise since 1985, were approved for home replacement under the HOME Investment Partnerships Program, an income-based grant that assists families with rehabilitation activities.
Friends, family, Habitat for Humanity staff and city staff and leadership, took part in a key presentation ceremony and toured the three bedroom, two bathroom Habitat for Humanity-constructed home.
This home is one of eight Surprise homes constructed thanks to the HOME grant. The new construction provision is no longer available in the HOME Investment Partnerships Program; however, qualified residents can still receive assistance for major home repairs.
Additional grant programs available through Neighborhood Services include the Emergency Housing Rehabilitation Program and the Major Rehabilitation Program.
