The Surprise City Council selected District 4 Councilmember Ken Remley to serve as Vice Mayor at their regular meeting Tuesday night.
Per city code, City Council must select a new Vice Mayor to serve on an annual basis no later than January 30. The Vice Mayor acts on behalf of the Mayor in the event of absence.
Remley was elected to City Council in the August 2016 Primary Election to serve a four-year term beginning January 2017.
Ken is a licensed mortgage loan officer and income tax preparer.
He served as the treasurer for the Litchfield Manor Homeowners’ Association for 10 years. He also served on the HOA’s Budget, Landscaping, Architectural and Social Committees.
He is a Vietnam War Veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Ken holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration-Accounting from Cal State Fullerton.
