Join us for a series of presentations on proposed updates to the city of Surprise sign code.
In Spring 2017, the city hosted public meetings to gather input on proposed sign code changes. The next step in the process is to conduct a series of discussions with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Each session will cover a specific topic related to the sign code, as outlined below. The public is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings.
July 6 – Wall Signs and Freestanding Signs
July 20 – Billboards, Freeway Signs, and Electronic Messaging Centers
August 3 – Temporary Signs
September 7 – Open Discussion and Summary of Revisions
All of the meetings will be held at 6 p.m. in the Surprise City Hall City Council Chambers, 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza.
Following the Planning & Zoning Commission discussions, staff will make the appropriate revisions to the draft sign code, post the revised draft to the city’s website for public review, and schedule public hearings for Fall 2017.
The anticipated timeline includes: a City Council Work Session discussion in November 2017; a City Council vote at a Regular Meeting in December 2017; and sign code policy changes to be effective in January 2018.
Public comments may be submitted anytime during the process.
