Waddell Rd closure, SR303-Sarival Ave, scheduled for June 3-5
Surprise, AZ (May 31, 2019) Utility work on Waddell Road will result in a complete closure of the roadway between SR303 and Sarival Avenue from 5 a.m. Monday, June 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 5.
Access to eastbound Waddell Road from SR303 on/off ramps will be restricted during the closure. Drivers are advised to use Greenway or Cactus roads as alternate routes.
Westbound Waddell Road at Sarival Avenue will continue to be closed daily from 5 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. through Tuesday, June 11, following the complete closure.
Over the next several months, drivers can expect intermittent restrictions and closures in the project area for additional utility work. Consistent travel impacts will occur as the project advances and widening work begins in August 2019; the project is scheduled for completion in summer 2020. Details on future road closures and restrictions will be communicated as the construction timeline progresses.
The Waddell Road widening project was approved by voters as part of the 2017 Decide Surprise General Obligation Bond Election. The project will: complete the north and south half of Waddell Road from the east limit of SR 303 to Reems Road, creating a total of six travel lanes; add a traffic signal at the Sarival Avenue and Waddell Road intersection; eliminate areas that have multiple lanes merging into one lane in each direction; and include provisions for drainage, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street lighting, landscaping, and turn lanes.
