Call for Entry: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration and Service Youth Poster Contest
Surprise, AZ (December 18, 2018) Calling all youth artists ages 12-14! The city of Surprise is holding a poster contest as part of the 3rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Celebration and Service on Saturday, January 19, 2019.
Posters should represent the theme of unity and collaboration. Show how the topic inspires you by using paint, pencil, collage materials, digital illustration, photography and more. No copyright material will be accepted. Each poster must be created on a 24” x 36” poster board.
Judging will be based on interpretation of theme, technical skill and originality. Three winning entries will be announced during the program celebrating Dr. King’s life, which will be held in the outside courtyard at Surprise City Hall, located at 16000 N Civic Center Plaza, beginning at 9 a.m. Breakfast for the first 500 attendees will be served at 8:30 a.m.
The deadline to enter the poster contest is January 9, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Entries should be submitted, along with an application, to the Surprise City Hall front desk, located at 16000 N. Civic Center Plaza. City Hall is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Please note, City Hall will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 for Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
