Police participate in West Valley DUI Task Force
Surprise, AZ (December 31, 2016) Tonight, New Year’s Eve 2016, the Surprise Police are participating in a West Valley DUI Task Force. The operation, starting tonight at 7 pm, will have officers patrolling the streets in the West Valley looking for and stopping impaired drivers.
Several officers from the Surprise Police Department, and approximately 30-40 specially trained DUI recognition officers from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the Goodyear Police Department, the Glendale Police Department, the Avondale Police Department, the Peoria Police Department, the El Mirage Police Department, the Buckeye Police Department, the Tolleson Police Department, the Wickenburg Police Department, and the Department of Public Safety will be out in full force taking part in the operation.
The Governor's Office of Highway Safety coordinated and funded the task force. These types of saturated patrols are common during the holiday season, but are not limited to only this time of the year.
The men and women of the Surprise Police Department want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and remind drivers to please drive safely and be courteous to other drivers on the roadway. Also, if you see a police officer pulled over with another vehicle with his emergency lights on or activated, remember to move over and pass by safely. Once again, Happy New Year!
