Police release names of two men involved in plane crash; sadly one has passed away
Surprise, AZ (May 8, 2016) The Surprise Police have identified the two men involved in yesterday’s plane crash in a Surprise neighborhood. The plane, which has been identified as a fixed wing, single engine 1956 Beech G35 aircraft, crash landed into a greenbelt area near several homes in the area of 14000 West Fire Mesa Trail in Surprise.
It is with a saddened heart, the Surprise Police announce one of the men involved, Mr. Joshua Merrill was recently pronounced as deceased. Mr. Merrill, a 31 year old Peoria resident, passed away during surgery last night. The other occupant in the crash, Mr. Michael Fox, remains in serious condition. Mr. Fox, a 32 year old resident of Glendale AZ, has been moved into an Intensive Care Unit where remains under close observation.
Investigators from both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) continue to assist the Surprise Police Department in the plane crash investigation.
The men and women of the Surprise Police Department are keeping Mr. Fox, his family, and his friends, in their thoughts and prayers. Additionally, we are continuing to pray for Mr. Fox to have a full recovery from his injuries. The Surprise Police are also keeping Mr. Merrill’s family and friends in our thoughts and prayers as they go through this most difficult time of mourning.
