Police and community partners host a RX medication disposal event
Surprise, AZ (March 28, 2016) Today, from 9 am to noon, the Surprise Police Department, in partnership with their community partners, Sun Health and the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission, held a free prescription medication safety training session and medication disposal event.
The event was held at the Colonnade Recreation Village located at 19116 Colonnade Way in Surprise. The Colonnade is an award-winning, vibrant Life Care retirement community nestled in the heart of Sun City Grand – an active adult community in Surprise.
During the event, the Surprise Police and the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission provided information to the attendees on how to safely handle, store and properly dispose of prescription medications.
Additionally, most of the attendees brought their expired and/or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications to the event for disposal. By the end of the day, the police collected several large boxes of prescription medications for destruction.
The Surprise Police want to thank the public and their community partners, Sun Health, the Arizona Criminal Justice Commission, and the entire staff at the Colonnade, for making this community event a huge success!
