Surprise Police attend SRO Challenge Coin Pizza Luncheon

Surprise, AZ (April 28, 2015) On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, Surprise Police attended the SRO Challenge Coin Pizza Luncheon at the Shadow Ridge High School, in Surprise.

During the well-organized event, Surprise Police Officer Wendy Klarkowski, the (SRO) school resource officer responsible for creating the unique program, presented Surprise Police Chief Michael Frazier, Shadow Ridge High School Principal Michael Hawkins, several executive staff members of the school, and several other police department personnel with tokens of appreciation from the students for supporting their growing program. Additionally, Officer Klarkowski handed out certificates to the high school seniors who have been heavily involved and considered charter members of the challenge coin program.

The Surprise Police Department, in partnership with the Dysart Unified School District, supports the SRO Challenge Coin Program.

The challenge coin concept stems for the military tradition of carrying coins that symbolize camaraderie, unity, and pride.

The program is designed to challenge students to make positive decisions and become role models for their peers and others to follow.

Some of the embodied values of the program are: Commitment, Honor, Respect, Integrity, and Loyalty.
