Surprise Police thank employees at annual "Appreciation Bonanza"
Surprise, AZ (April 18, 2015) On April 17, 2015, the Emmy Award winning host of Fox 10's Morning Show, Mr. Rick D'Amico, hosted the Surprise Police Department's "Appreciation Bonanza" held at the Surprise Stadium.
Police Chief Michael Frazier and the executive staff of the Surprise Police Department welcomed several of the city's top officials, including Mayor Sharon Wolcott, City Manager Bob Wingenroth, Councilmember Skip Hall, Councilmember Roland Winters, and Councilmember Rachel Villanueva, to the special celebration and award presentation event.
During the evening, the department recognized several of their employees and the following awards were presented.
Rookie of the Year: Officer Robert Mulligan
Officer of the Year: Officer Matt Barker
Detective of the Year: Detective Juan Diaz
Supervisor of the Year: Sergeant Mark Filler
Civilian Employee of the Year: Ms. Kimberly Davies
Volunteer of the Year: Ms. Barbara Jones
Citizens Patrol Officer of the Year: Mr. Jim Gearns
In a special presentation, Chief Frazier presented Sergeant Mike Ferrara with an award to recognize his 35 years of service to the Surprise Police Department.
During the celebration, many other exciting events took place. Several bounce houses, a magician, and a face painting station provided fun-filled activities for the kids, while a live band, "The Big Bang Machine" lead by drummer, Officer Adam Layton, entertained the adults throughout the evening.
The Surprise Police want to send a special thank you to Mr. Rick D'Amico for being a great host and the Surprise Police Employees Association for funding the entertaining event.
