Police host Citizen Patrol volunteer recruitment meeting

Surprise, AZ (January 7, 2014) If you are interested in volunteering your time to keep Surprise one of the safest cities in Arizona, make plans to attend the Citizens Patrol recruitment meeting on January 22.

Surprise Police will host the event at the Public Safety Building Auditorium, 14250 W. Statler Plaza, from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  A tour of the police facility will follow an informational session about the program and a demonstration by the Surprise Police Department SWAT Team.

The Surprise Police Department’s Citizens Patrol is one of the premier volunteer programs in the nation.  Besides patrolling the streets and assisting at crime scenes, the Surprise Citizens Patrol assists the police by participating in programs such as vacation watch, We Care, vehicle impounds, sex offender notifications and much more.

The 26th Citizens Patrol Academy is set for April 1 - May 2 for those wanting to move forward with the program.
