Surprise Police track down shooting suspect
SURPRISE, AZ. (September 6, 2012)… Shooting suspect Darren Crockett is awaiting extradition in Las Vegas, Nevada after a joint effort between the Surprise Police Department and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) resulted in his arrest on Wednesday, September 5, 2012.
Surprise Police have been actively looking for Crockett since he was identified as the suspect in a shooting that occurred in the area of 12700 West Cottonwood Street on Sunday, August 5, 2012. The shooting left one man in critical condition as a result of being shot in the head. Crockett has been at-large since the time of the shooting.
Investigators from the Surprise Police Department discovered on Wednesday, September 5, that Crockett was hiding out at a relative's home in Las Vegas. Surprise Police coordinated Crockett's capture with the Las Vegas Criminal Apprehension Team, a violent crime task force comprised of detectives from the LVMPD, Henderson Police Department and agents from the FBI. The team located, identified, and arrested Crockett in Las Vegas later that day at the residence discovered by Surprise Police.
After being extradited to Arizona, Crockett will be facing charges of attempted homicide and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
