Get trained as a tax preparation volunteer & provide free tax help

Surprise, AZ (September 23, 2021) Volunteers are needed to provide free tax return preparation for low-to-moderate income individuals and families through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. No prior tax preparation is needed; training will be provided.

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities within the VITA program: 

  • Tax Preparer – Prepares basic 1040 tax returns and related schedules. Individual will also be able to answer tax law questions.
  • Greeter/Screener – Greets taxpayers to create a welcoming atmosphere and performs the screening process of all taxpayers prior to moving them to the Tax Preparer.
  • Interpreter – Provides bilingual assistance for Spanish speaking clients seeking tax preparation services.

Virtual VITA information sessions are available for those interested in learning more. 

Here are the remaining 2021 dates:

Thursday, Sept. 23:  5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 6:  10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Oct. 19:  5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 9:  5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
