Greenway Road improvements near completion; upcoming traffic restrictions & signal activation
Surprise, AZ (July 21, 2021) Work on the Greenway Road improvement project will require intermittent road restrictions and a change in traffic pattern as a new traffic signal becomes operational.
Drivers can expect intermittent restrictions from Monday, July 26 – Thursday, July 29, as the final striping, signing, and signal activation takes place from Sarival Avenue to Loop 303.
The new traffic signal at Greenway Road and Northwest Ranch Parkway will be in flashing red mode starting 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27 and will move to normal operation 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 29.
A flashing red light means the same thing as a stop sign. You should come to a complete stop, yield to appropriate traffic and pedestrians, and only proceed when it is safe to do so.
The Greenway Road improvement project will finish the south half of Greenway Road from 800 feet west of Loop 303 to 1600 feet east of Loop 303 (approximately Cotton Lane to Sarival Avenue), adding a traffic signal at Greenway Road and Northwest Ranch Parkway, two travel lanes and eliminating areas of the roadway that have multiple lanes merging into one lane.
In addition to more travel lanes, the project includes turn lanes, drainage infrastructure, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, street lighting and landscaping.
The project is scheduled to be complete in August 2021, weather permitting.
