Surprise lights city buildings blue for National Police Week

Surprise, AZ (May 10, 2021) In honor of National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day, the City of Surprise is lighting City Hall and its Public Safety Building blue from the evening of Monday, May 10 through Sunday night, May 16.

These recognitions occur annually in May. In 1962, President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the week in which May 15 falls, National Police Week.

National Police Week and Peace Officers Memorial Day pay special acknowledgement to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives or who have been disabled in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

The City of Surprise would like to thank the brave men and women of the Surprise Police Department for their courage to protect and serve and also pay tribute to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives. Thank you for your heroism.
