City pools open May 22; Itty Bitty Beach Party on May 28
Surprise, AZ (May 10, 2021) Surprise Aquatic Center and Hollyhock Community Pool will reopen for limited-capacity swim lessons and open swim on Saturday, May 22. Aquatic special events such as the Itty Bitty Beach Party will also resume with the opening of the pools.
Open swim fees are $2 for youth residents (6 months – 17 years) and $3 for adult residents; the non-resident fee is $5 per swimmer. Children 10 years and younger must be accompanied by a guardian 16 years or older. Open swim hours are as follows:

| Monday-Thursday: 12 – 6 p.m.|| Monday-Thursday: 12 – 4 p.m.|
| Friday: 12 – 4 p.m.|| Friday: CLOSED|
| Saturday-Sunday: 12 – 6 p.m.|| Saturday-Sunday: 12 – 4 p.m.|
Other aquatic opportunities this summer include swim lessons, lap swim, water aerobics, rec swim & dive teams, USA Swim, and special events like the upcoming Itty Bitty Beach Party on Friday, May 28.
The Itty Bitty Beach Party at the Surprise Aquatics Center offers games, prizes, inflatables, and more for children ages 10 and younger! Swimmers will enjoy the slides and cooling off in the water while hanging out with our resident mermaid! The cost to join the party is $5 for residents and $10 for non-residents. This is an entry fee event; therefore, each person requires a ticket to attend. Both morning and evening party sessions are available. Register online
Surprise Parks & Recreation has been working to reintroduce programming in a phased approach due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Additional precautions will be taken with regards to safety and health to ensure that families and individuals can enjoy the pools. Some initiatives being taken include, but are not limited to the following:
- Reduced facility capacity
- Daily sanitation of high-traffic surfaces and areas such as handrails, door handles, lockers rooms, and drinking fountains
