Intelligent Transportation Systems Strategic Plan

The City of Surprise is working with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), to develop an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Strategic Plan. The goal of an ITS Strategic Plan is to identify strategies and tools to allow the City to manage its transportation network and information exchange more efficiently.

ITS includes communications and field technologies such as traffic signals, cameras, fiber optic communications, and central management software. The City has a strong existing network of ITS infrastructure and the development of this plan will support its strategic expansion as the City continues to grow in both physical size and population.

Because ITS influences many City functions and impacts both residents and visitors of Surprise, it is important that there is City-wide involvement in this project. This webpage will be a source of information for both providing deliverables as well as sharing upcoming stakeholder workshop information for those departments involved in the development of the project.
