Disability Advisory Commission
About the Commission
During the December 4 Regular City Council Meeting, Council moved to form a new commission, the Veterans, Disability and Human Services Commission, to assist in the development and/or expansion of city programming related to veterans; people with special needs; and those in need of general human services and workforce development.
The former seven-member Disability Advisory Commission (DAC) has transitioned into the new larger commission. Four additional seats will be filled representing veterans, their family members or someone representing a veteran service organization.
As the terms for the current DAC members expire, new commissions will be sought.
The City Clerk will advertise the application process for those seeking to serve on the new commission through the city’s website. The goal is to have the new commission assembled to begin meeting in February 2019.
Meetings will be held on the second Wednesday of the month in the City Hall Council Chambers at 6 p.m. All meetings, are open to the public, and will be televised on Surprise TV and online at www.surpriseaz.gov/surprisetv.
