Use the phone while driving

Increased reliance on cell phones has led to a rise in the number of people who use the devices while driving.

Dangers associated with driving and cell-phone use:

  • You may become so absorbed in conversation that driving does not maintain its proper place as your first priority.  Failure to concentrate jeopardizes your safety, and the safety of your passengers, pedestrians and other drivers.
  • When text messaging, you lose your ability to focus on the road and detect and respond appropriately to what is happening around you.
  • Drivers must take their eyes off the road and at least one hand off the wheel to e-mail and key messages into cell phones.  This is inherently dangerous.
