Program Explanation
The Surprise Citizens Patrols responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Traffic Control
- Crime Scene Security
- Vacation Watch
- Parking Enforcement
- Radar Deployment/Speed Enforcement Programs
- Administrative Services
Eligibility Requirements
- 21 years of age
- Have or obtain valid Arizona driver’s license
- No felony convictions
- All applicants will be required to pass a background investigation
- Must be willing to volunteer a minimum of 20 hours per month
Academy Schedule
The Surprise Police Department offers two seasonal Citizens Patrol Academies each year. While in session, the academy meets for three hours, one day a week for six weeks.
