Census 2010- Count me in!
Census forms will arrive in your mail beginning mid-March!
It is critical for Surprise that everyone be counted. Why?
- Each uncounted person represents a loss of approximately $1300 to Surprise in federal assistance for public safety, transportation and other civic improvements
- Congressional districts are shaped by the Census, and Arizona has grown. Let’s be sure we are not underrepresented in Washington
- It’s confidential. The information gathered by the Census is protected by law and is not distributed to political parties, advertisers, law enforcement agencies….no one!
- It’s easy! It should take about ten minutes to complete
- It is the law. Federal law requires that Census forms be completed
- Non-citizens and part time residents are included! The census counts everyone living in Surprise when the Census forms arrive. So if you are a part time resident, or even a foreign national, you should fill out the form and return it.
