Surprise Considers False Alarm Fees
The Surprise Police Department receives 4,000 false alarm calls per year and only four of those calls result in an officer actually finding criminal activity or evidence of criminal activity.
As a result of the growing concern, the police department briefed the Surprise City Council, during an August 6, 2013 Work Session, about proposed amendments to the False Alarm Ordinance that would establish fines after one or two false alarms from the same residence or business within one year.
