The Public Works Department’s Pavement Preservation
Program is an annual program in which identified city streets receive
appropriate applications to lengthen the lifetime of the street surface.
The FY13 Pavement Preservation Program begins April 29 – June 30. Links to the street schedule and area maps are located to the right. Residents living in areas targeted for treatment will receive 48 hour notice before the work begins via a door hanger. Contact information for residents requiring special assistance during the street treatments will be provided on the door hangers.
The street treatments include Micro Surfacing, Mill and Overlay, and Seal Coat. The Seal Coat being used is called Tire Modified Rubber Surface Seal (TMRSS) which is a rubberized material that protects and extends the pavement life.
The first treatment, known as micro-surfacing, which is a topical preservation treatment will be placed on sections of Litchfield Road, Waddell Road, Bullard Avenue, Cotton Lane, Avenue of the Arts, 163rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road.
The second treatment involves the milling down of the existing pavement and overlaying new pavement. This will occur on portions of Dysart, Bell, Litchfield, and the Reems intersections at Greenway and Waddell.
The final treatment, known as TRMSS, another topical preservation treatment for slower speed roads will be placed in several Sun City Grand neighborhoods including Mountain View II, Desert Bloom, Starry Night, and Desert Trails I and II, as well as in sections I and II of Ashton Ranch.
Residents can expect street restrictions during the treatment, however there will not be any complete street closures.
