About Village 1

Village 1 is located in the heart of the city and contains a diversity of uses. The City Hall is located in Village 1 along with several cultural icons such as Heard Museum and the West Valley Art Museum. The Agua Fria River provides a warm welcome to the recognized historic core of Surprise, the Original Town Site (OTS). An estimated population of 19, 380 reside in Village 1.

Village 1 encompasses several different neighborhoods: Kingswood Parke, Stonebrook, Parke Row, Litchfield, Sun Village, the Orchards, West Point Towne Center, OTS, Sunflower Resort, Coyote Lakes and canyon Ridge West. These neighborhoods each with its own sense of community provide a strong base of housing, small scale retail and landscaped open spaces. Also located in Village 1 are the Stadium, Tennis Complex and the Northwest Regional Library.

Pockets of commercial development are interspersed throughout the community and along Bell Road. A small portion of highly intense commercial development is located on the intersection of Bell Road and Grand Avenue.

Transit service currently consists of two express bus lines, however the city is in the process of improving future service to Village 1. The presence of the rail line in this village potentially makes this area highly attractive for mass transit.
